Dynamics Perform The Nutcracker at Assisted Living Homes

Premiere Dance Gives Joy by Performing the Nutcracker at Assisted Living
Giving back to the community each year is a high priority for Premiere Dance Hillsborough. On Sunday, December 9th, forty nine of the Dynamics Dance Company Dancers, from Premiere Dance, performed parts of the Nutcracker at Assisted Living Homes. The pieces were choreographed by Colleen Guy, and a few faculty members, Erica Bozza and Mikayla Ahart, were there to help out that day. This is the second year that Premiere Dance has performed the Nutcracker at Assisted Livings, and this year they added a second performance location.

The first performance was located at the Princeton Manor Clubhouse at 11 am in Kendall Park, followed by a performance at 2 PM at Avalon Assisted Living in Hillsborough. Miss Colleen and a few of the Senior Company members started with the opening and reading of the Nutcracker. The dances included The Children’s March-performed by the Junior Company Dancers, Marzipan-performed by Pointe lll, Cookie/Grandparents Dance-performed by the Junior Company Dancers, Polichinelles-performed by The Petite Company Dancers, Hot Chocolate from Spain-performed by the Teen Company Dancers, and Sugar Plum Dairy-performed by the Senior Company Dancers.

Colleen Guy said, “As a child, I performed in the Nutcracker Ballet each year. It was a holiday tradition for me. I wanted to give this same tradition back to Premiere by sharing some Nutcracker favorites with them. What a better way to do this than go to local places like Avalon and Princeton Manor. The smiles on their faces and the many, many gracious thank yous are worth a thousand words. This year, to top it off, an Avalon resident was so happy she just kept hugging people. I am honored that my ballet student’s dancing of the Nutcracker can bring such joy. I am looking forward to continuing this tradition at Premier for years to come.”

Michelle Cunningham, Studio Director, said, “I had the privilege of watching the girls perform this year, and it was so overwhelming. My smile never stopped the entire time because I was truly so proud of what they were doing. I always remind them that dance was invented to entertain, bring joy, and tell a story. That’s exactly what they did that day.”

Premiere Dance looks forward to continuing this annual tradition and loves the joy it brings to everyone during the Holiday Season.
